Ready Erected Tents - An Alternative To Bringing Your Own Tent

Nowadays you do not have to put up your own tent at all. There are companies in Europe such as Canvas holidays that have pre-erected tents throughout their sites. Unfortunately this has not yet caught on in Britain, it has been tried and tested but we have not yet warmed to the idea of turning up to a readymade tent. The reason why it is popular on the continent is that in countries such as France and Spain there was not a cheaper alternative to hotel accommodation, unless of course you count hostels - but that is not to everyone's tastes. You can get a two week holiday in a luxury tent in France on a far more sophisticated campsite than the UK which will include your ferry crossing, brittany car transportation, insurance, maps and even information of what to do when you get there. A ready erected tent is extremely large with proper beds, bedrooms, kitchen and seating areas. Some would say that does not sound like a tent at all. The walls are movable and have mains electricity for the lights and fridge and even sockets for a hairdryer and iron. One thing they do not have is running water or a toilet. For this it is back to basics I am afraid and you will have to share the shower block with your fellow campers. Outside the tent you are greeted with a large sun-awning, giving you a nice shady spot to sit. The best thing of all they even provide a charcoal barbecue for you and the family to enjoy. For me this gives you a different way of camping, you get the benefits on being in a tent out in the open and hearing the rain patter on the canvas, but with mod cons of a caravan - minus the toilet of course. If you have done lots of camping in the UK it is worth broadening your horizons to go to Europe and experience their way of living on the campsite. It is very cheap to do whether it is by means of a ready erected tent or taking your own. For me the big benefit of camping in countries such as Spain, France and Italy is the weather.
